Amazon SEO, Listings and Content: Ranking, Copy, Images, Reviews

Amazon SEO is the optimization of your product pages so that Amazon's search shows them high up for relevant search terms and shoppers buy after the click. The listing comprises the title, bullet points, description, images and backend keywords of a product page, while content also includes A+ Content, videos and the Brand Store. Besides relevance, Amazon weighs purchase signals, price and availability, which is why copy, images and reviews belong together. This topic page brings together our articles on ranking, keywords, listing copy, images, A+ Content, testing and reviews.

The order of work follows the logic of search. First, use keyword research, Brand Analytics and the Product Opportunity Explorer to find out what your buyers search for. Then place these terms in title, bullet points and backend without sacrificing readability. Images, A+ Content and a clean variation structure help decide whether a click turns into a purchase. Since Amazon's AI shopping assistant Rufus answers shoppers' questions, it also matters whether your listing gives concrete answers on use, material and what is in the box.

Reviews affect click-through rate and conversion at the same time, and you build them only through channels Amazon allows, such as Vine or review requests in Seller Central. You can report reviews and seller feedback that break the rules, but not every negative rating gets removed. Content is not a one-off project either: with Amazon's A/B tests (Manage Your Experiments) you test two versions of title, main image or A+ Content against each other instead of deciding by taste, and you use AI images only within Amazon's image guidelines and labeling requirements.

If you do not want to build listings and content yourself, our Amazon SEO Agency page describes how we handle keyword research, listing copy, backend keywords and optimization for Rufus, and how we measure progress per search term. The Amazon A+ Content Agency page shows how we plan, write and design Basic and Premium A+ and check it against Amazon's guidelines before upload. The Marketplace Guys is an Amazon agency based in Bielefeld, founded in 2022, with over 45 million euros in managed marketplace revenue.

Frequently asked questions

How does ranking on Amazon work?

Amazon shows products that match the search term and have strong purchase signals. Relevance comes from the terms in title, bullet points and backend, purchase signals from click-through rate, conversion and sales. Price and availability also play a part. A listing without stock or without the Buy Box therefore loses visibility, even if the copy is right.

What does A+ Content achieve?

A+ Content replaces the plain product description with modules containing images, comparison tables and text. It answers questions that bullet points do not cover and can therefore improve conversion. For sellers, A+ Content requires brand registration through Amazon Brand Registry. Whether one version sells better than another is something you test with Amazon's A/B tests.

How do I get more reviews without breaking Amazon's rules?

Use the channels Amazon itself offers: review requests through Seller Central, Amazon Vine for new products with Brand Registry, and package inserts that ask for feedback in a neutral way. Incentives for positive reviews, discounts in exchange for reviews and requests sent only to satisfied customers are prohibited. Violations can lead to your account being suspended.
